Well gosh golly gee...it's been a week and a half since I last posted. My goodness. You know what this means? It means I haven't finished anything on my hook! I gotta get busy! The afghan is coming along nicely but I haven't touched it in three days!!! It won't finish itself (well, where did I put that magic hook?). I promised myself it would be finished before school starts, so I have one more week. Then I've got to get busy on the drawstring purse and the beaded bracelet.

So on that note I'll sign off and get busy.

Have a great day.

This past Friday I decided to take the plunge and start my first afghan. After all, I've had the Q hook for two years and it was still in its wrapper. So off to Michael's I went. I got six skeins of the Homespun, Deco color (which is a very nice off-white, cream color). I completed about 2/3 of the first set of yarn (two strands together). I think it's going rather well. Maybe I'll have it completed by the time school starts, which is August 10th for our school district. I already had someone in mind as to who will get this for Christmas, which is why I chose the color that I did, so that it will go with their furniture (if they so desire to set it out).

Hmmm...since it's working up so smoothly I may even make one more. Of course, I haven't forgotten about completing the purse and bracelet. I just needed to start something new to get me back in the mood to work on those things. And oh yeah, I did sorta promise my daughter I would do up some scrunchies. Well, time's awasting...I'd better get cracking.

So last night I was inspired to once again work on one of the two WIPs I have on the hook. One is a beaded bracelet and the other is a drawstring purse. I decided to work on the purse. It's done in size 3 thread and I really thought I was going to bend or snap my steel hook because I was holding it too tight without realizing it. I'm hoping I'll have the purse finished in time for Christmas to give to my youngest. The bracelet is for her as well so I suppose I oughta be working on that, too. Although the thread for that is a stretchy thread and of course the pattern says not to stretch as you go but you know, it's just so darn hard not too, especially when I have trouble pulling those itty bitty beads through the loops. Of course I couldn't get something simple such as just pulling the bead up to the hook and then working the thread, oh no, I had to get one that pulls the bead through the loop. Oh well, such is life...I think it will be worth it.

As soon as I complete one I'll post a picture.

Have a great day.

New to this

Hi everyone. This is my first blog and I hope to be able to come here at least four days a week. I like to crochet and hopefully soon I'll have some pictures of my "creations" on here (as soon as I figure out how to do it!). I'm also trying to learn knitting but it's not going very well right now. But hopefully it will all click into place some day.

A little bit about me...I have three children (Jennifer, Paul and Bethanie), one grandaughter (Leslie) and one son-in-law (Alex). Add one husband (Kevin) to the mix and voila...my family.

That's it for now but I'll add more when I can.
