I'm not setting the crochet world on fire these days

I wanted to share how my one-skein project came out from the weekend. It was a scarf pattern using Lion Brand Homespun yarn.

Are you ready to be amazed? Because here it is...

Didn't get very far, now did I? But I did start my first sock pattern. It seems simple enough. It's the Scrunchy Slippers using Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick. I started this this past Sunday night and haven't actually had time to work on them again. But as soon as I finish up here I plan on it.

So on that note, here is a picture of my puppy, Prince Louie IV. He is a Doxieshire, or as I prefer, a Dorkie.
Until next time,
Terri

WIPS and FO'S

Well, okay, I only have one FO for now. But I am going to be doing some simple one skein projects this weekend so we shall see what I can get done. For now, though, here is my first attempt at an afghan. It's made with Lion Brand Homespun, which I think is soooo soft. I actually made this a while back for my sister-in-law, but it didn't come out very even so I kept it, intending to make another one., which hasn't happened yet.

And now for my WIP - it's a triangle shawl that I, ummm, started Labor Day weekend...ummmm...2007. I'm about 1/3 of the way finished with it. My Mother-in-law makes jewelry and she was going to try her hand at making shawl pins, but she hasn't yet, at least she hasn't told me if she has.
Alrighty now...I'll get busy on those projects and maybe I'll have some more FO's tomorrow.
Until next time,
Terri

My Soldier is leaving - again

My son, Paul, told me today that he and his unit (Army) are leaving for Iraq on Saturday night. This will be his 2nd tour. He is only 20 (he will be 21 in less than a month) and he has seen a lot for his young age. What makes me even madder about all this is that he was only home for four months before he was called away again.
Paul, just remember this. You don't have to be a hero. Come home the same way you left. I love you. Be safe.
Love,
Mom

October happenings

Well, my oldest daughter had a birthday yesterday. She's 23 years old. Where has the time gone? I'm sure I only blinked one eye...but she still grew up on me. She is married (an Army wife) with two beautiful little girls. This picture is about 6 months old as my granddaughters are now 1 and 3. Guess it's time for a new family photo. Too bad they live a day's drive away.
